Mumbai Terror Attacks

Its really sad to see our mumbai under terror attack. These attacks were so well planned that it took the whole security force including police and army by surprize. Hats off to NSG who pulled off the situation and handled it with minimum casualities. And tribute to everyone who laid their lives in the operation - ATS Chief Karkare ,  Commissioner Kamte , Salaskar and NGS Major Sandeep.

Now that the terror night is over.....it leaves us with unanswered questions. Why is it that everythime something like this happens , our police is unable to deal with the situation? Isnt that job of police ? Why is army and Nsg called everytime ....which causes a lot of delay. Why are terrorist better equipped than our forces . They had AK47, AK 74 and GPS systems , which can fire 690 bullets per minute . Why is indian police given those revolvers and self loaded guns which they have been using since independence. Their right place is in museums not in their hands . Why do the constables have a fitness such that they are not able to run 200 mtrs sprint . Shouldnt there be rules for them too ? Why are these policeman giver a penny for their service .This is so less that youngsters  now dont even consider going into police forces and IPS as a cereer prospect. The job of police in US etc is a reputed job , and people their are handsomely paid for it.

Politicians are also to be blamed for it. Why is our prime minister sitting with his mouth shut when every clue indicates that terrorist were from pakistan ? Remeber the action that US took against afganistan after 9/11 . When is that going to happen in India  ? Are we waiting for a 9/11 to happen in India too ? Pity there are no such tall buildings such as WTC in India , otherwise that too would have ahppened . Why is the energy of indian forces wasted between the fights of different parties . MNS people pre-occupied the mind of police forces for the last 2 months . Major sandeep who died saving the lives in Taj was from banglore , an OMS. What do you have to say ? Hope MNS dont attack the commandoes from UP or say that only MH commandoes should have gone inside the buildings to fight the terrorist .

Hi there,
Its true that the attack on Mumbai has been a real eye opener for us on the issue of our internal security. Definitely i agree with u that our policemen lack proper training to deal with such crisis situation and also our infrastructure is insufficient to handle calamities of such vast nature. But one think must be kept in mind that the way the terrorists went about this operation causing so huge damage to life and property, their modus operandi- like that of a guerilla fighter could have no way been handled by the police or ATS alone, however it doe suggests that its high time now just being n encounter specialist does not suffice. The police should be given a better training probably like that of Marcos or NSG. Its time to review our defense policies and security apparatus. The terrorist had come with one motive in mind -to cause maximum damage to life and property and unfortunately they had succeeded bcoz they must have known the moment this plan was conceived that none of them would survive. In India our main handicap is lack of proper information and execution of the information. Or network with intelligence agencies like MOSSAD, CIA, M5 should be internally strengthened and plzz its nothing to advertise about so people don’t suggest that it would be more dangerous. In this age of information we can not afford to be left behind, if we do, just see the price we paid in MUMBAI. Whoever reads this plz continue the string and post comments and views. Ritwik Thanks for starting it....
